Hi,
I am just impressed with the good job made with deepin gnome-shell destktop, and that job is certainly what a lot of people were looking for and seem a much better approach than "cinnamon" or "mate".
So this desktop, is it a fork or a set of gnome-shell extension ?
I mean is it possible to install it on a ubuntu 12.04 ? (it seems difficult to me to use plainly deepin because of lack of translation (french))
Did you plan to let this gnome-deepin fully installable on other linux distribution? That could very wonderfull to a lot of people.
So if it is possible, how to install on a ubuntu 12.04 ? (ppa ? regular ?)

I really hope you could devellop and spread this gnome-deepin (stand-alone fork or set of extension, or both) as people could install it instead of gnome-shell.
Thanks for the job done that show the way for a better gnome experience.

you can visit http://packages.linuxdeepin.com/deepin/ ... ome-shell/ and download the deepin-gnome-shell package to install Deepin gnome shell on your Ubuntu 12.04.

TRY at your OWN RISK.

Hi,
it seems that's it works fine.
I dl the .deb on the link you gave then in terminal (at right directory) :
sudo dpkg -i *.deb
and it has been installed properly.

2 questions and 1 remark :
what is the need of "deepin-gnome-shell_3.4.1.orig.tar.gz" ?
How to change color of the theme ? (i would like to change the color of the policy in the top bar because of transparency i cannot see the white policy)

and then the remarks:
By the way i used, deepin-gnome-shell has been installed on top of my previous gnome-shell. Could it not be a good idea that deepin-gnome-shell become a stand-alone fork of gnome that could be installed closed-by the original gnome-shell instead of on top of GS ? can't you made it totally separate from the original GS with his own ppa or .deb ?

Thanks for the job, it's look great.

1. You don't have to download the tarball of "deepin-gnome-shell_3.4.1.orig.tar.gz" . That's the source tarball. If you're are able to install deepin-gnome-shell from source code, that's your need.

2. you can search and download other deepin gnome-shell theme from http://www.deviantart.com/ to alternate the current gnome shell.

Or, you must modify the code in /usr/share/theme/Deepin/gnome-shell/gnome-shell.css

Input the following code in terminal:
  1. sudo gedit /usr/share/theme/Deepin/gnome-shell/gnome-shell.css
Copy the Code

Then press Ctrl+F to search "anel".

You will see part of content like this:
  1. #panel {
  2.         border: 1px solid rgba(0,0,0,0.2);
  3.         background-gradient-direction: vertical;
  4.         background-gradient-start: rgba(227,227,227,0.6);
  5.         background-gradient-end: rgba(227,227,227,0.09);
  6.         color: rgba(255,255,255,0.98);
  7.         border-top: 0px;
  8.         border-left: 0px;
  9.         border-right: 0px;
  10.         height: 32px;
  11.         box-shadow:  inset 0px -1px 0px 0px rgba(255,255,255,0.2);
  12.         font-size: 8.7pt;
  13. }
Copy the Code

Just change the color: rgba(255,255,255,0.98); use the color you like.

That maybe help you.

3. Yeah, what your suggested just is one of our next goal - to creat a great standalone Display session.

Thanks for your feedback again. Hope help you.
