Hi there,

I've managed to disable some of the features in Settings Manager after installing gnome-control-center to fix another problem (with Settings Manager).

I have completely removed gnome-control-center now. However some of the Deepin 2013 settings manager personalisation features are no longer showing.

How can I restore this to the default settings? I tried reinstalling settings manager but it had no effect.

thank you

I tried reinstalling settings manager but it had no effect.
May you do this once again then copy all output after the command is executed and paste them here.

Thank you Poloshiao and Cxbii for your replies. I tried your command line Cxbii suggestion first because it was easier but it made no changes. The Personalization window is a tiled display of all the possible background images. The options for selecting themes are missing.

I installed Gnome-tweaks to gain control over my fonts. It may be overriding settings. I will remove it and give Cxbii's suggestion another try.

Thank you

I am having a similar problem where I can't make any sets of background themes in the personalization section (I can only select background present there). I also can't set any of my own personal images as backgrounds.

Right click and set as background or double clicking the theme and adding the picture doen't work?

Edit: Apparently the Theme selection was purged with the new update anyways. Or is it just me?

Yeah, I don't see anything for making themes. When I right click and set an image as a wallpaper, nothing happens.

Try as follows :
1. press ctrl + alt + F1
2. log in
3. sudo stop lightdm
4. sudo apt-get update
5. sudo apt-get upgrade
6. sudo rm -rf ~/.config/deepin-system-settings
7. sudo apt-get install --reinstall deepin-system-settings*
8. sudo apt-get install --reinstall lightdm
9. sudo start lightdm

If the problem still exists, change to another download server, then try once again.

First off, I tried what you suggested but nothing changed and I'm using an "official" copy. I don't know how to change servers and when I type "sudo rm -rf ~/.config/deepin-system-settings" nothing seems to be happening.

Now, I did find the place where I can change the background manually. Its not a perfect fix but its a start and identifies what the problem might be.

- First download and open "dconf Editor" to look at the guts of what is going on.
- Next, click on the left side -  com > deepin > dde > background to reach where the problem is happening
- While the "current-picture" looks right, if I go to "picture-uris" I see "file:///usr/share/deepin-system-settings/modules/individuation/backgrounds/1.jpg;;file:///home/myaccount/Pictures/Wallpapers/02%20(another%20copy).jpg"
- What is happening is that the deepin backgrounds are in place, and then if you try to set a non deepin background, the program is adding the filename on without erasing/replacing the old file name so it can't read the new file and thus defers to the current one
-If you erase the bad file name and put in your own file of choice, the background changes
-Furthermore, the set background then starts to work where it replaces one file after another BUT if you go back and use a deepin image, the problem comes back.

I've confirmed that this is a problem to do with the recent updates. It seems like a deprecated file somewhere. I loaded DI 2013 on an other partition and I did nothing to it other than the updates. This confirmed for that the problem is with the updates.

Cheers

I can also confirm that the purge and reinstalling of deepin-system-settings as suggested by poloshiao doesn't fix the problem.

I can confirm changing the server makes no difference. It is a deprecated file for sure.

Bug report submitted but possibly under the wrong category because the English bug report page has a (bug) - the categories in the drop down box - which are compulsory to choose from, is in Chinese.
