I don't know if it the right place for posting app problems but here, after installing Banshee the popular media player, most of the mp3 cannot be played. It says "codecs for playing this media type unavailable". Works fine on Mint. Is this app related or distro ?

You need to install the corresponding decoder, Mint can play because of the default decoder.
Please execute the following command in terminal:
  1. sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 -y
Copy the Code

But I recommend  you to use our built-in Deepin Music.

I Maggies,

sadly that did not do it. It says it already has the latest version.
"gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 is already the newest version."

For the moment I am using Deepin Music but Banshee it is more advanced for now. Hopefully it will get  there.

I'd love an answer to this question.  I tried the command below and it worked and got the following:

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 is already the newest version.
The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  hyphen-en-us kdegames-data khelpcenter4 language-pack-en
  language-pack-en-base language-pack-gnome-en language-pack-gnome-en-base
  libkdegames6
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded

However, banshee and freeconferencecalling.com still won't work.

I just found GMusic Browser by Deepin.  Once I found the option to make it look like iTunes, my stress was relieved.  I can do without Banshee while using Deepin.  I just wish there was more activity on this forum.  Does the community need more Leaders?
