Here is spec's of my system:
Dell lattitude e610
Ram - 4 gig
Hardrive. - 500 gig
Video - nvidia w/500 ram

I downloaded the 64bit version of 2014.2 and went through the installation. When it had finished, I proceeded to reboot. Thats when I came to a black screen when an error something to the fact that it couldn't find the grub file. I tried holding the right shift key and a few other things with no luck.

Any help will be appreciated.

If this is new installation you could just re-install and watch that /boot is on ext4 file system.
If this is not the option then you could try to repair grub with this GrubRepairDisk
