Has anyone installed deepin on a USB thumb drive or USB drive of any sort? Does it work reasonably well?

You are funny. When I graduated, I was thrilled with MASM and used DEBUG to disassemble .COM code. I've never used SET; in fact, I've never used social media. A friend signed me up on Linkedin, and I'm still puzzled by it.

speaking of reverse engineering, i remembered that during my college days, my it professor showed us a exe and told us to create a similar one, i used boomerang and failed because most variables are the same as his.

I think boomerang works on repetition and can be used repeatedly. With each iteration you get something else more or less the same. Eventually, through trial and error, you can get something that is substantially different. Then the question is: does it work better? It's sort of like randomized AI coding with manual intervention. Of course, I'm speaking theoretically; I've never tried doing stuff like this.

Watch out! You can't throw a boomerang away. It always comes back.

it is the same as the normal installation, just that u have to put grub onto the usb, and mount a ext4 partition on the usb to /. i recomend mbr as the partition scheme because it can be used on both uefi and bios, and an exfat parition at the biginning for data transferrring purposes, since it can be rw by all three oses. windows seemed to mount only the first partition of any usb drives so that is why you must make it the first partition.

Thanks, laoguang, for the tips. That sounds like the best approach. I'll try it this weekend.

just another reminder, u will have to give a boot flag for the deepin partition if you want it to show up in the startup manager on a mac. currently this only applies to deepin since they don't give the flag by default, all the other ones i used mark boot flags. and i only tested this on my 2013 macbook pro, there had been rumours about 2015 macs only allow gpt disks to show up in startup manager, i would appreciate if someone can help me check. i only checked on a 2015 mac air and it seemed to be negative.

Sorry, I can't help you with Macs. Most of my many machines are rebuilt from the town dump. People don't throw away Macs/ Thanks for your help.
