VPN not working

I have successfuly create a VPN and although the status of network says I'm connected to the VPN navigating to whatismyipaddress.com shows my original ip address and not that of the VPN. Is this a bug or anyone with a suggestion on how to fix?

There are many factors into making your ip address undetectable on a VPN And also depends if your remotely connecting to your VPN or just internally from a browser.

Thanks for the reply. On my PC I created the VPN via Network Manager. On all my other distos (I have several) this is all that is necessary. Then when I turn on the VPN and go to the web page indicated above via my web browser it displays the ip of the VPN. With Deepin it displays my original ip. Something definitely wrong here...
