I am very happy with deepin again, all stable nice and I hope that secure too.

Only two issues I have are:
One - I downloaded firefox from mozilla web, extracted into a folder and then manually execute the browser. All working fine but, when I click dock athe the down bar, after close the browser, the icon dissapear. And have no permanent launcher docked.

Two - I am trying to add a windows printer from a local area network, but at add smb printer menu the button is grey and I can not look for the computer name, Do I need to install extra packages?

Thanks in advance

Edit:
For problem number two , while having the mouse pointer over the examine button, I read pysmbc not installed. After Some web search I installed sudo apt-get install python3-smbc
Now the button is working but after click at the windows computer to select the printer a pop up asking me for user, domain and password. not sure what user of password is asking.
At windows machine, at print options, have to change an option that says password is required for users that shares the printer, I am printing now : )

Just dock firefox launcher issue still remains  : )

You can install Mozila Firefox browser from the Deepin Store. That works perfectly and without problems you will be able to dock it.

But the versions update will not be as quick as the one downloaded from the webpage, that is why I use this method.
Any indirect way of add launchers to dock bar, other than select dock once a program is running?

I use Pale Moon, a good Mozilla alternative and simply right click the Icon in the applications menu and it docks okay.

You might want to look at the manual installation instructions of Pale Moon . I suspect your the problem with Firefox is that you might need to manually create a desktop icon.

They are located in /usr/share/applications you can look at a example of one using the nano editor
sudo nano /usr/share/applications/google-chrome.desktop
I do not know the correct procedure for the DDE  As the Pale Moon manual installer script does that automatically for me.

The complicated part is creating the proper systemlinks The manual Linux instructions are very good in Pale Moon And they are the same for Firefox

thank you very much about the info dance707,

I created a new entry in /usr/share/applications but then no idea how to add it to dock bar.
Later I tred to modify an existing one like vlc, or restore chrome one at dock bar and modify then the exec line with nano, neither worked.

I hope developpers create a tool to modify dock bar entries, add new ones etc

Yep, in case they are installed, but as some of them are just executed when click, the system desktop don't contemplate that ones to manage launchers, icons, etc.

Not only with firefox, If you download blender, from his page to have last version, probably same problem, I will test it now...
Edit: Confirmed, same issue too. after click dock, at bar. Once closed the appleication the launcher and icon dissapear

No, they are not installed, just downloaded the folder, including the program to execute.
like:

https://download.mozilla.org/?pr ... =linux64&lang=es-ES

http://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.d ... c211-x86_64.tar.bz2
64 bits version btw

Yes first the desktop icon must be in your applications menu before you can add to dock that is what the system links are about.

Please developers, I know is not urgent, but please take in consideration when possible let users modify programs at dock bar at will.

Hi: you might want to see this post here. I do not approve of the method used but it did seem to work when I tested with a manual Firefox install and added shortcut to the dock.
