2. If it's impossible to upgrade the system through Control Center, please update in terminal by the following command:
  1. sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade -y

Thank you for the update. I'll try as soon as possible and report back.

Happy to report that the upgrade resolved my frozen login screen issue. Everything works ok now. Only issue that remained but easily solved:
- "Computer" desktop icon reverted to the default deepin blue icon, had to re-apply the Icon Theme on Control Center to reactivate the desktop icon.

Hmm...

It does not work through the Control Center on any computer I have tried, but I ran the command lines in the terminal...

The process was trying to do something with grub and caused me some issue. Before reboot, I ran

sudo update-grub

then restarted. Everything appears to be okay.

I'll try the process on another machine and see how it goes.

The update process will ask you where you want the new version of grub to be installed.

When you get to the process of doing something with grub, just select with your space bar where you want grub to be installed. For most users it will be /dev/sda . If you are unsure you can select more than one location.

If you are experiencing a problem they will need a screen shot. I not know what it means did not like either one.

I used the terminal window to update another computer this time. When it got to the update grub part, I told it not to, it tried to anyway but failed. I confirmed to do it without grub update and it completed successfully.

I ran

sudo update-grub

then restarted. Everything seems fine.

Should not have to do that but as long as every thing fine and you have latest grub should be okay
