After the recent upgrade, the gnome desktop no longer displays on pressing the superuser key or combinations. It also does not display upon clicking the launcher (rocket) icon.  The recent problems with Deepin 15.1 have given us second thoughts about its use as alternative in our firm.
Anyone have suggestions to solve the above problem?

We are expecting a new ISO around Wednesday that will contain the recent updates and hopefully some new patches. In the mean time you can try logging out and back in that often helps. If your unable to log out in the normal way you can use CTRL ALT F1 and reboot from there. And if possible if you can upload a screenshot or a photo of the problem.

Yes, we tried logout and full reboot on the three affected machines. No effect; problem persists.  We cannot show you a screenshot because there is nothing to show. The launcher never appears.

NOTE: there should be an alternative way to access applications. Any suggestion for the moment?

F4 should launch a terminal. There you can type in name of application to launch.

No, that launches the full screen terminal. Super-Left is the only thing in the system for the Launcher.  We tried changing to another keystroke (Super+Z) and the affect is the same.  A brief blink of the whole screen but no gnome launcher.

By the way it is a Gala based windows manager . In a terminal you can launch applications. If your able to launch Deepin User Feedback you can report this problem. I would like to see a screen shot or photo from cell phone to see what your talking about . I have 4 systems and they are working fine some have small bugs but patches are on the way.
like I said a new ISO will be out next week version 15.1.1

Too much productivity time has been wasted. Fortunately all machines run at least one other form of Linux. We will wait and see what 15.1.1 brings, as there a number of other issues with the current edition. Thank you for the chat, just the same.

Create a new user, log to that account and see if your troubles are gone.

I also had trouble with the Launcher not launching... Killing it in terminal (F4) and restarting it solved. Hopefully there will be a fix for this.
  1. $ pkill dde-launcher
  2. $ dde-launcher &
Copy the Code

Did not work, but worth a try.

So we would need to do this each time  upon login?  No, do not think so.

In my case it has happened recently (with latest updates) and for a few times. I didn't have this issues before. I guess they'll fix it in the near future with a patch/upgrade. One way of helping is using the Deepin User Feedback tool installed and reporting the issue/bug as detailed as possible.

Unfortunately, the reporting utility is another issue. There are too many little ones to go into, and this is what happens when working from Debian "Unstable" as a base; we have seen the same occur with other distros that have done likewhise.

We will hold out until later this week to see what final solutions are coming. But thank you (all) for the suggestions.

You're welcome. I do understand your concerns. My thought on the matter is that Deepin is still maturing and developing. Currently, and with the latest updates glitches, not quite stable for a productivity environment. Hopefully that will change soon. Although I currently have 3 machines within a working environment without major issues. Still, it has grown considerable in the last years, and it seems to be taking steps into the right direction. Not perfect. But getting close. :-)
