After installing Deepin on my computer and laptop, I updated with the lastest patches via the update tab under settings. I made sure to manually switch my mirror to the fastest local one (rated Fast). Still it took a very long time despite my great internet conntection (for Australia). Then on the desktop it even failed and had to be restarted twice.

I was telling my colleuges about Deepin and turns out one of them has tried it too. The said "the updatea and mirror probelm killed it for me". So I thought I'd bring it to your attention. I must be hard hearing how it works globally.

Hi, here is a link explaining how the mirrors work in Deepin.

Currently the CDN nodes are in China and USA . Changing your default source is a option but discouraged.

Thanks for this link, it was a good read. I didn't realise this was the first iteration of the mirrors. How do other distributions work in this respect? This is the first OS where mirrors are a problem. Could I help in getting Australia accellareted? I think some Universities host distributions.

Hi, The mirror list seems to be incomplete and some of the mirrors listed are for the old version of Deepin. At the bottom of the page list information as how to help.

So a quick update.
Internode: "lease be assured that I have passed on the information regarding mirror link to our Web Administration team for further investigation."
Me: "Thanks. Please notify if something happens."
Internode: "at this stage our Systems Team has advised that this won't be added but they will keep the request on file."

I,too, have long suffered from the mirror's slow download speeds. But I discovered that the "NL" mirror located in the Netherlands worked fast for my location, which is in Southern California, USA, which is quite far from the Netherlands, Whatever works, I guess.

Personally I use the official source now days. It seems like it improved after updates in 15.1.1. though during a version release servers are quite busy. You being on the west coast surprised it's not working for you.

Maybe it's just timing, but the past several times that I have updated, the official source was in "timeout" status, and ,since I've had reliable success with the "NL" mirror, I continue to use it. Next update I'll give the official mirror a try.
