I will try the 15.2 version but you have to do something about the server speed !

The update procedure in general is horrible.
Only installs updates if you reboot! You must reboot, you even can't turn it off to install updates. This is insane. Even windows is better than that.

You can just use
  1. sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
Copy the Code
if you don't want to reboot

Would you suggest to make an apt-get dist-upgrade ???

Depends on the situation. When there are just application updates you would probably use
upgrade

But when there is a new Deepin release or kernel update you should use
dist-upgrade

Also when you use upgrade and you get notified that there are packages held back you resolve it with a dist-upgrade.

Yes I know but I think that a smooth update procedure is essential especially for new linux users.

To be honest I don't like it that much either (That's why I use the terminal). I think it's easy for new user, but might be annoying from times.

Sometimes I'm getting an 'endless running circle' because /var/lib/apt/lists/lock gets set somehow.
Right now I'm trying to update via shell but apt update is downloading slowly with around 30kB/s.
This is the worst update experience I ever made on a linux machine! Please do something.

Could not get /var/lib/dpkg/lock

If you see errors from apt-get command:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/) is another process using it?
Try one of the following solutions:
The first solution:
Close running programs like apt-get or aptitude. If you do not know the exact program that is using dpkg, please open system monitor to see if there is any process related to apt-get, then kill it. You may also reboot your computer.
The second solution:
Execute in terminal:
    sudo rm /var/cache/apt/archives/lock
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/lock sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/lock
It may be useful when the first solution has no effect.

And for the update speed, could you try change to a nearer mirror?

Baidu has been synchronized from official source. Sourceforge and Mega are still synchronizing.

There seems to be little/no integration between Deepin & Synaptic.  If I add a repository to the sources list via Synaptic, one that is not already available via Deepin's System Information->Settings route, although the newly added repository works fine, the entry is not added to Deepin's available repositories-list - even though Deepin 'appears' to be using the new repository when I try updating via Deepin (as opposed to Synaptic).  At least the download speed is fast, in contrast with the slooowwww download speed I've come to expect from  the default Chinese repository that is selected.

The Deepin 15.2 upgrade has gone very smoothly with my setup - everything seems to be working, including Deepin Movie.  The switch to the Debian repositories has also finally fixed the network-login problem.  That stupid Ubuntu bug has been driving me crazy for years.  There is another network problem on my end though (not Deepin 15.2-related), but that's for another thread...
