Hi I'm newbee to both Linux and Deepin. Thank deepin team for great job first, the DE is awesome!
I have a new thinkpad t460p and have arch linux installed. I followed the arch deepin wiki to install deepin DE, and login successfully. However, the icon and font, almost everything here is too small for me. I tried to set display resolution, but it seems unable to be changed, it is always kept as 2560*1440.

Any help would be great appreciated!

Hi magodo,
As I known, Deepin hasn't implemented a hi-DPI solution, but it's on the agenda. Regarding the resolution, what's your video card? It can be caused by the driver. Also, have you tried to set it in the Display under the control centre?
In addition, you may try to set the resolution by randr(or xrandr).

Hi bobo, the video cards of my laptop is shown below:

  1. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530 (rev 06)
  2.         Subsystem: Lenovo Device 5050
  3.         Kernel driver in use: i915
  4.         Kernel modules: i915
  5. --
  6. 02:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM108M [GeForce 940MX] (rev a2)
  7.         Subsystem: Lenovo Device 5050
  8.         Kernel driver in use: nvidia
  9.         Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidia_drm, nvidia
Copy the Code

Above configs are following arch wiki, also the bumblebee works fine.

`xrandr` works for me as a workaround(degrade to 1600x900). But it is not a clear solution because:

1. If I wanna persistent this change, I have to run `xrandr` after deepin de started. Since I didn't find any way to do this via display manager(e.g. lightdm). I have to manually startx via .bash_profile, and in the .xinirc do something like startdde &->sleep->xrandr. Also I found if I was not using display manager, there shows some systemd warnings when I shutdown system from deepin(which doesn't appear if I use gnome3);
2. Apparently the resolution is degraded...

My questions are:

1. Is there any more elegent way to make use of `xrandr` in my case?
2. Why setting resolution from control center not work?
3. You mentioned that deepin hasn't implemented a hi-DPI solution, what does exactly mean? Obviously deepin is using the highest DPI(2560x1440) which my screen supports. So can I regard it as althoug deepin could use the hi-DPI to represent everything, but it could not change the icon/font/application content size by user?

Thank you in advance!

Hi bobo, the video cards of my laptop is shown below:

Hi Magodo,

1. I usually start `xrandr` manually.
2. Sorry, I am not sure why the control center does not work. I am not the development from Deepin. The auto-generated config files are in~/ .config folder. There is a "deepin_monitors.json". Do you have that? It may be worth to look at that file.
3. The Hi-DIP solution is something like DPI scaling settings. The link is from Microsoft. I think Deepin will have a similar function in the near future. http://www.eizoglobal.com/support/compatibility/dpi_scaling_settings_windows/
4. I note that you are using Thinkpad t460p. Could you only use Intel Corporation HD Graphics 530? The problem might be related to the driver of Nvidia video card. I only use Intel video card on my w550s laptop and it works well.
5. Do you have lower solutions in the control center?

Sorry, we haven't support Hi-DPI yet,  we plan to fixed this problem in Deepin 15.5.
There have so many business projects need to finish, Hi-DPI support maybe implement in Deepin 15.6 or Deepin 15.7

Thanks for choose deepin. ;)
