    I tried connecting a Thomson TV via HDMI but the dde multiscreen configuration was not able to send the signal. The TV was recognized but with low resolution like 1378x766 instead of hd or fullhd  and the TV showed nothing.
    I tried with arandr and everything worked fine

    I suggest an option saying "problems with second screen?" which forces a video output with various resolution and let's you manually choose among all of them like arandr and could possibly automatically cycle the most common ones
