Hi Deepin community,

it's already October and Deepin 15.5 is not released yet !

Are they wrong in the Planning section ?

Or they are still facing some problems ?

set gfxpayload=1920x1080x32 nomodeset
能看到启动动画了,过一会出错啦
unable to find a medium containing a live file system

I actually wish the opposite, that the feature update is not as frequent as they have planned.

The main weakness of deepin OS is stability rather than beautification/feature updates. I used it for only several days, however am already troubled by several glitches. For example, the taskbar/docker can completely disappear (become fully transparent and invisible) for no reasons.

The update schedule/planning of Deepin is also quite aggressive, compared with other major distros, like Ubuntu.   For every 3 months there will be a new release with a lot of new features? That is way too frequent for the system to be tested and tweaked throughly.  People need guarantee of stability in order to use it at a workplace or for productivity purposes. Ubuntu has a "long-term support" scheme, which is quite useful for ensuring the stablity. Deepin may learn something from it as well.

I agree with the idea, but it is a system based on deep unstable packages, so stability can not be expected. In addition, constant updating is expected by 75% of the user population.

Thanks for the reply. I agree this system may not have put stablity as a development priority before. But in order to become a major market player, it has to be. Stability should always be one of the top three development goals of any operating system, if not the most important one.

Probably Deepin may consider adapt a "two-track" release model, with both LTS and regular release available. Or similar to Windows 10, where there is an insider version (equivalent to a beta version) and a production version. This can satisfy the needs of different people.

I like Deepin a lot. It is really the most user-friendly desktop Linux distro available. However, not many people have tried Deepin yet, compared with Ubuntu/Fedora, etc. Deepin should try as best as possible to avoid some negative online reviews like "Deepin is a beta software" or "The stability of Deepin is 1/10".  The "two-track" release model with both LTS and regular release can help with that.

Thanks for your response. Good to know that. It is a very promising system and appreciate your guys's hard work on such a beautiful distro.

Maybe this BBS forum is not the best place for such discussion, and we can talk via private message if necessary. Just wondering reasons behind the decision of moving away from Ubuntu as a base system to Debian unstable?  Ubuntu has been somewhat considered as the industrial standard by 3rd party developers, and moving away from them lead to more compatibility issues. For example, Nvidia CUDA 8.0 is much better supported by Ubuntu 16.04 compared with Debian unstable and hence Deepin system.

https://bbs.deepin.org/user/96004 ,leaving ubuntu core base will make Deepin more independent and future-oriented to compete in long way with ubuntu ,u can't measure its potential ,that may exceed Ubuntu .And doing this ,make deepin Ubuntu Bro rather than its infant son .
