    the microphone settings keeps lowering the volume. how can i set it to one volume and not have it move around?

    I see a couple of reasons:

    1. Application you're using is changing system setting
    2. There's a bug
    3. External hardware that changes the volume has a malfunction

    You need to figure out what's the cause. Under what circumstances the volume is changing

    I am just using the mic with chrome browser, and I haven't noticed these changes when I use this mic with windows
