cut movie? i remember it just need a powerful cpu when i cut.but you can use file-swap(use a normal file as a swap)to archive balance between swap size and ssd size because file-swap can change size convenient.
so make a 16g file swap or other size you like.then test if it enough when you cut movie.if not, just have a biger one.

16gb is enough for movie several hour long, probably you don't need that much.
try 0 swap first, swap decrease speed

I don't use any swap partition with 8Gb RAM. It works
It's not recommended to set up a swap with ssd drives.
Frequent write operations alters ssd lifetime

That's true and swap is not needed with 8gb of ram.
I have 8gb ram too and have about 30 tabs open in opera.
That's no problem,I still have 3.5gb left.

If your RAM is enough, you can do without swap.

8g is enough for daily use, swap is not essential for common user
if you will run virtual machine / programing ide ,2-4gb is better.

Swap space will usually be a disk partition but can also be a file. Users may create a swap space during installation of Arch Linux or at any later time should it become necessary. Swap space is generally recommended for users with less than 1 GB of RAM, but becomes more a matter of personal preference on systems with gratuitous amounts of physical RAM (though it is required for suspend-to-disk support).
I have 8GB physical Ram and Samsung SSD.
How big SWAP should be for best performance? (possibly want to cut movie in future)
i cant speak chinese so pls in english.
Thanks for your answers in advance,
