I have been a linux user for almost two decades. I have tried various popular distributions over the years just to keep on eye on where we are headed: Red Hat, Suse, E, ubuntu, Mint, Archlinux, etc.

This is the first time I see a desktop that is really pretty and pleasant to use out of the box.

There appear to be some problems with the audio on my hardware (thinkpad) with the entire system eventually locking up, something that I don't have the time to research at this time… that I trust will eventually be fixed.

The only serious issue I've had so far with Deepin is that downloads, updates, and upgrades are extremely slow when pointing to the default mirrors.

Apart from this unacceptable slowness… very nice effort indeed.

Let's just hope the Deepin desktop becomes available on a large number of distros, in particular debian stable.

The   update source  mirors in china is fast enough,  perhaps your problem is restricted by the internet environment. In the update  options, update mirrors  could be selected by   yourself .           Control center -->Update->Update setting-->Switch mirrors
However , deepin-manjaro could be another choice for you , which has the same experience  as original deepin system , yet might be much faster if there is an update source  mirror in your country, despite the differences between  apt  and   pacman .   Maybe  "  pacman   -R   deepin   /deepin-extra  " could help you setting up the   DDE in    arch .  You can always turn to  arch wiki      :-)

Thanks. The mirror you directed me to appears to be much faster. There's just a little latency when I start the update but I can live with that since the downloads are quite fast with speeds in the 1000-1500kB range after that.

Oh… I'm the initiator of this thread but I had to re-register under a different userid because the account I was unable to login to the account I had created initially (cjns2001). I tried the "lost your password" (even though I was 100% sure I was entering the correct password for cjns2001) and received an e-mail… but when I clicked the link it took me to a page where I was asked for my password. Looks like the login procedure to access the forum is broken…1

the suggested mirror is also a source in China. It is better to use the mirror nearest to you,  to reach a faster speed than 1000-1500Kb.  here We have 2-3MB with this same mirror.

I have a feeling something or someone is slowing down traffic from the PRC to the US. The reason I am saying this is that it can take up to ten seconds (that's a LOT) to load a page on this forum (or other bbs.deepin.org pages). I have no such problem with other sites outside the US.

Something else…

I've been trying to start a new thread reporting the problems I ran into after upgrading to version 15.6… so I click the blue button that says "New Thread" at the top right of the page.

Everything works fine until I try to post my message.

But for the life of me I can't see any button that I can click in order to post.

I normally use Firefox… so I fired up Google Chrome… same thing.

Hovered the mouse over everything in sight… clicked a few buttons just in case and the short of it is that I can't find any way to post my message.

This is kinda strange… since I managed to do it without any problems regarding this "Done right" thread we are looking at about a month ago.

I am able to post replies to this thread… but I am unable to start a new thread…!

Is there a problem with your site at this point...???

Thanks,

CJ

Apologies for this last message.

It turns out I only had to click on the blue "New thread" button bottom left of the page.

Please note that this may be confuse other users than myself.

Once I had written the text of my "New thread" I looked for something that said "ost message".

Where I am concerned I didn't want to create another "New thread"…

Please remove one of the two identical "New threads".

Thanks,

CJ
