You'd better add an SSD.

You are lucky. I cost almost two minutes.
  1. rhett@rhett-pc:~/VirtualBox VMs/Window/win7$ systemd-analyze
  2. Startup finished in 2.202s (firmware) + 6.936s (loader) + 20.856s (kernel) + 1min 18.452s (userspace) = 1min 48.448s
  3. graphical.target reached after 1min 18.446s in userspace
Copy the Code

Startup finished in 6.890s (firmware) + 6.926s (loader) + 2.499s (kernel) + 11.492s (userspace) = 27.809s
With an SSD of course, Windows 10 boots quickly because it loads userspace things even before welcome image. If you can afford one, and your laptop have space, you must buy a 120GB SSD card, for the system(s).

Run systemd-analyze in a terminal, if userspace time is too long, disable apps which runs at start.

Maybe you can buy a m.2 port SSD if your laptop has another m.2 port , 128G is best , it won't cost too much

I think maybe there're some problems on the device drivers. I have an old pc with HDD(320GB 7200rpm) using Deepin OS,which only costs 30s to boot.

u can check out the graphic driver in priority. Because it costs so much time when the driver is not correct.

my laptop needs to add "nouveau.runpm=0" when booting , u can try and check out whether it works.

You don't need an SSD with large capability but a small SSD of proper size, say 128GB or maybe 50GB, should be enough. Just keep your HDD and mount it as your home directory.

Besides, Windows 10 has a special technology that boosts its booting up. "Shutdown" would not be complete to the system if you enable this tech, and that's why Windows 10 can boot up fast. Sadly, it seems like Linux does not have such tech, so all you can do is merely reinstalling or moving your system to an SSD.
