In some case, you need before installing this new kernel, remove the driver for your nVidia or AMD GPU and use the base graphic driver not the closed driver.

after installing the new kernel, you can install again the graphic driver.

You can install the Kernel 5.2.8.For this, add my repository with this : https://lvtommy.com/depot/

After installing the repository, please update the Apt cache :

Open Deepin terminal
Run the following command :sudo apt update

To install the new kernel, after adding my kernel repo, install this package : sudo apt install lvtommy-linux-kernel

打开Deepin终端
运行以下命令 :sudo apt update

要安装新内核，在添加我的内核仓库后，安装此软件包：sudo apt install lvtommy-linux-kernel

Cool!
After installing your kernel, the control of brightness works!
What's more, I found there is no need about the "nomodeset" in /etc/default/grub which was needed when I used the kernel-5.2.3 downloaded from https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/.
Besides, my PC is MagicBook 2019 AMD R7 3700U.

Sorry i use a service outside china for my repository. The download speed may vary depending on where you are in China. Sorry for that.

GUI didn't start, so I moved /ect/X11/xorg.conf.d. Now GUI started but I got fat black borders around all the windows and can't switch to windows effects. Also second monitor doesn't work.

Which graphics card do you have ?
You may need to reinstall the graphics drivers

try this on terminal :

sudo apt purge nvidia*

after do this :

sudo apt install nvidia-driver

After I deleted nvidia driver it works normal with the standard driver however when I tryed to switch back tt says can't switch to proprietary driverTryed with another gtx 750ti but still no luck

At boot, in the boot loader choose : Advanced options for Deepin 15....

then choose Deepin with your before kernel.

After login you can remove the new kernel and reinstall your nvidia drivers
